Jack J. Yager, OD
Dr. Jack J. Yager received his BS from Ohio University in 1969 and his doctorate from the Ohio State College of Optometry in 1973. He is past president of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the Cornea and Lens Section of the AAO. Dr. Yager lectures all over the world on various subjects, and he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Dr. Yager has 31 years of Optometric/Contact Lens experience, specializing in the hard to fit and bifocal lens patients and pre-op and post-op Lasik patients.Dr. Yager is also a consultant to numerous contact lens manufacturers and pharmaceutical firms as well as lecturers and authors in many publications.
The Practice of Drs. Swanson, Sowers, Lee & Yager, P.A., was chosen one of the “Top Ten Contact Lens Practices” in the United States by 20/20 Magazine in 1997, and was also selected as the Small Business Partner for Central Florida by Partners in Education 1994.
The practice has grown to be recognized nationally as one of the premier contact lens specialty practices in the country. We do get referrals from many doctors throughout the state as well as the country.

Melisa S. Hockett, O.D.
Dr. Melisa S Hockett is a native of New Mexico. She completed her Bachelors of Administration in accounting, with minors in biology, chemistry, physics and spanish at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. While at NSU, Dr. Hockett worked as an intern in the Contact Lens Clinic of Northeastern's College of Optometry.
Dr.. Hockett continued her graduate studies to earn her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. She was the recipient of several contact lens awards including the American Optometric Association Cornea and Contact Lens Section Student Research award. She was a student intern under the late Dr. N Rex Ghormley, an established contact lens specialist in St. Louis. During her fourth year of optometry school, Dr. Hockett completed clinical externships in disease, primary eye care and pediatric/binocular vision. She completed her contact lens internship under Dr. Yager and joined the practice in May 2010.
Dr.. Hockett is an active member in the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, Florida Optometric Association and Central Florida Society of Optometric Physicians. She is an InfantSee provider, providing free comprehensive eye exams for children 6 to 18 month old. Dr. Hockett is hand trained to fit specialty contact lenses for patients needing keratoconus, bifocal or astigmatism contact lenses. She is also the pediatric specialist of the practice, providing a comprehensive evaluation of eye teaming skills.
Dr.. Hockett lives in Winter Park with her husband Jeromy and their two black labs, Moose and Coda.
