Jack J. Yager, OD

Dr. Jack J. Yager graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1969 and was President of his Senior Class. Dr. Yager is a Past President of the American Academy of Optometry, the premier International organization of over 4,000 Optometrists. He is a Diplomate of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the AAO, the only doctor with this designation in Central Florida. Further, Dr. Yager served as the President of the Florida Chapter of The American Academy of Optometry (AAO) for 17 years. Dr. Yager lectures worldwide on various subjects, and he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Dr. Yager has over 40 years of Optometric/Contact Lens experience, specializing in the hard to fit, bifocal lens patients, pre-op & post-op Lasik patients. He earned recognition in 2003 as the Gas Permeable Practitioner of the Year by the Contact Lens Manufacturers Association (CLMA). Dr. Yager is also a consultant to numerous contact lens manufacturers and pharmaceutical firms as well as lectures and authors in many publications.
Dr. Yager holds several professional appointments, including clinical investigator for Allergan, Vistakon, CIBA Vision, Paragon and Johnson & Johnson. He sits on the Gas Permeable Institute Board and Vistakon Speakers Bureau.
The Practice of Drs. Swanson, Sowers, Lee & Yager, P.A., was chosen one of the “Top Ten Contact Lens Practices” in the United States by 20/20 Magazine in 1997, and was also selected as the Small Business Partner for Central Florida by Partners in Education 1994.
The practice has grown to be recognized nationally as one of the premier contact lens specialty practices in the country. We do get referrals from many doctors throughout the state as well as the country.
